Affirmation: I have confidence that I am supported in every step I take. My courage and faith are strengthened the more I trust where Life leads me.
After spending a few magical days at Disney we journeyed our way to Nevada to make more of our dreams come true.
A few years ago I saw a picture of the Grand Canyon Skywalk. I thought the picture looked insane but I said to myself, “I want to do that!” After doing a bit of research I found out that the Skywalk is located in the west rim of the Grand Canyon so its an easy 2-1/2 hour drive from Las Vegas. It just so happens my sister, Amber, was going to a conference in Vegas the same time so she was able to join us for the adventure.
The evening before we decided to overnight at the Grand Canyon Ranch to break the drive up a bit. The Grand Canyon Ranch was a nice treat as we got to experience a bit of history. The ranch was built back in the 1800’s so it feels like you’re on an old country western movie set. Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid were even said to have stayed there.
This was my first visit to the Grand Canyon. Seeing it was one of the most amazing, magical and humbling feelings all wrapped up into one. Walking the Skywalk was both scarey and incredible. Bea seemed to have absolutely no fear. She actually jumped up and down on it hard enough it shook! Amber and I weren’t quite as brave but we made our way around despite the feeling of uneasiness. Let’s just say as cool as it is to look down through the glass and see the Canyon 4000 feet beneath you, I was glad there was a railing to clutch onto.
For me, walking the Skywalk was a test in moving forward fearlessly. As uneasy as I felt with the experience I persevered and pushed through. Every step I took, well it was more like a foot slide, I just kept telling myself, “you can do it. There is nothing to worry about. You are fully supported.”
I think its important to approach life with this same knowledge. Sure some things seem scarey and make us feel uneasy because for one reason or another our confidence wavers, and we wonder how we can do something. Or maybe we just don’t know or can’t see how we will make it happen. The place to start is to remember how supported we are. Once you feel that it gives you the courage and faith to carry on.
